    • Protect the ZVM?

Hello all, I am off soon to my first Zerto installation (nothing special, just a couple of SQL Servers), so probably this can be a silly question. I am trying to gather as much info as I can, but one thing is not clear for me about if it is necessary to protect the ZVM […]

    • Cloning VMs

Just in case anyone is not aware, it’s possible to clone a crash consistent VM at the remote site from the data that Zerto has already copied over. Do a test failover, wait until it has completed booting up. Take a volume level snapshot on the storage device. Stop the failover test. Mount the volume snapshot. […]

    • What is the best setup?

Hey guys, I am evaluating Zerto (along with Arcserve and Veeam) and wanted to see the best way to setup Zerto up. I have 2 ESX hosts (Host A and B) at the main site and 1 DR host at the DR site (Host C); I do have two vcenters, one at main and one […]

    • Can Zerto protect vCenter Appliances?

Has anyone tried putting vCenter Appliances into a VPG for replication and potential recovery? Would this work and is it supported? Primary idea is to have a vCenter appliance for Horizon View (which would not be a paired ZVR vCenter instance) protected for recovery if needed.

    • Could I use Veeam replicated VMs to Preseed ZVR?

Yes you can. We pre-seed from disks, not VMs. Therefore, what you need to do is: First deploy the Veeam replicated VMs which means failover/restore in Veeam (it wasn’t clear from the question whether the “Veeam replicated VMs” are already VMs or if they are just in the Veeam backup repository) After you have actual […]

    • Long Distance vMotion

We get some questions about long distance VMotion. Some things to consider: 1.       Long distance vMotion sends the entire data set in one go, you cannot pre-seed. Zerto allows replication with just the changes sent. 2.       Long distance vMotion will flood a link with all the data being sent which means its limited to moving VMs one […]
